Cathédrale Saint Gervais et Saint Protais

Cathedrals, churches and abbeys in Soissons
  • Almost completely isolated following the destruction of the Revolution in the First World War, the cathedral was in the Middle Ages part of a complex of episcopal and canonical districts. Contemporary of Notre Dame-de-Chartres, one can better understand the passage from the first Gothic architecture to the art of the 13th century. Of note, facing the remarkable south arm of the transept, is the painting by Rubens: the Adoration of the Shepherds.
