The Soupir Church Cemetery is located behind the local church. There are 36 Commonwealth graves from the First World War, of which six could not be identified. Two graves destroyed during bombing raids are now represented by special memorials. The village of Soupir was taken by the Brigade of Guards on 14 September 1914 and for days there was terrible fighting in the courtyard of Soupir Farm, near the peak overlooking the valley to the north east of the village. First aid posts were established at the Château de Soupir and in the farm. The village was taken over by the Germans between November 2 and 6, 1914 and remained very close to the front line for most of the conflict. There are also British graves from the 1914-1918 war in the communal cemetery of Soupir.
