La Stèle du Souvenir à Fontenoy

The First World War took its toll on the Aisne Valley region.
In the village of Fontenoy, near the church, you'll find a stele erected in honor of two French soldiers who were shot as an example.
It reads: "In memory of Léonard Leymarie of the 305th R.I. shot on December 13, 1914 at Port-Fontenoy and Lucien Bersot of the 60th R.I. shot on February 13, 1915 at Fontenoy. Recognized as innocent and rehabilitated in 1922-1923".
