L'étang de Malva

A pond without water, what a curiosity! Yet this is what Malva has almost always been, since its creation. For it is indeed an artificial pond, created in the second half of the 19th century. The mallow, a member of the Malvaceae family, gave it its name.
Nowadays, it is only a pond surrounded by more and more abundant vegetation.
Nevertheless, it remains a very popular place for walking, giving access to the Salamander circuit, the most popular hike in the Retz forest, and offering walkers a relaxing break on its picnic area, located a few dozen meters away.
